PRIMARY PURPOSE Empower and train Organizational Point of Contacts (OPOC) in their role at the unit level utilizing the Volunteer Management Information System (VMIS).
My function is primarily as an over watch of the VMIS program and to assist at any level of command with necessary training and guidance to all participants. VMIS has been instituted to assist volunteers with managing their own volunteer activity. As a tool, VMIS can be both beneficial to the volunteer and the organization, unit or activity.
Everyone here, at some time in your life has probably volunteered for something. Volunteering is an excellent way to assist people and organization with specific functions. The rewards for volunteering are vast and different for almost every individual. For some, there is a sense of euphoria, a feeling of accomplishment with helping others.
A great big thank you is always something that you want to portrait and emulate to all your volunteers consistently. This is accomplished by preparing, coordinating and executing an Annual Volunteer Recognition Ceremony, normally conducted during the 3rd week in April.
