Have you heard the quote, "Give a man a fish and
feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime"? Army
Family Team Building (AFTB) at Fort Richardson, Alaska, has the same
perspective. We have the tackle box to give military family members and
soldiers to help them survive during their time with the
Army.
The AFTB program is a series of three levels,
encompassing a total of 34 classes. Students receive training on topics
ranging from understanding military terms and acronyms, how to read the
LES, information on resources, benefits, leadership, and interpersonal
skills. There are no prerequisites. Family members and soldiers can enter
the program when and where they desire.
Our goal is to improve overall readiness by
promoting personal and family readiness. We are here to assist family
members in adapting to the various changing Army. For soldiers and family
members, knowledge is power, and this is just one of the many avenues the
Army has to offer. AFTB also offers the material in Spanish, German, and
Korean.
AFTB offers opportunities to anyone who is interested in
helping others and child care may be available.
