How do I get a library card?
You are eligible to check out library materials if you are:
- Active duty military (all services) or a family member;
- Retired military or a retired civilian employee or a family member;
- A Civilian employee or contract employee assigned to Fort Richardson or Elmendorf AFB;
- A member of the Armed Forces, civilian employee, or contractor on TDY at Fort Richardson or Elmendorf AFB;
- A current student enrolled at one of the colleges here at the Education Center (UAA, CTC, WBU or Embry-Riddle).
Bring your military ID to the library, and be prepared to fill out the registration form. Accounts are made in the sponsors name with family members' accounts linked to the sponsor's account.
Important Note about Textbooks: We do not purchase textbooks for the classes that are held in the building, nor do we know which book is needed for each class. Textbooks are donated by students or teachers, and are often past editions. Some teachers will accept past editions. To check if we have the book you need, call or visit the online catalog.
A few alternative places to obatin books can be:
- New and used books found on common booksellers' websites ie, Barnes & Noble and Amazon.
- Chegg.com is a company that rents textbooks for a fraction of the cost of buying.
- Title Wave Books is a local used and new book company that may carry your book.
